Editing a page creates conflict

If you get a grey page while editing with Elementor, it maybe due to a conflict with either of the following:

  • another plugin
  • a script inserted within the theme

Follow these steps to resolve this issue:

  1. Activate the safe mode. Check whether this helps.
    • If it helped, deactivate each plugin one by one, besides Elementor and Elementor Pro to figure out which one is causing the issue.
    • If this does not help contact support.
  2. Try to solve the incompatibility issues with other plugins as much as possible.
  3. If you notice any incompatibility with a plugin, submit a ticket for support. Also, report the issue to the support of the conflicting plugin.

Browser has Add-ons installed

The page can get stuck and show a grey page because of an add-on installed on your browser.

To solve this switch to another browser. The options are:

  • Safari
  • Chrome
  • Firefox
  • Opera

Theme uses preloader

If your theme uses a preloader, you may need to disable the preloader within the theme’s options or within Customizer. For details, see Is Elementor Compatible With All WordPress Themes?

X frame restrictions and Cross-origin issues

The page can get stuck and show a grey page due to X frame restrictions and Cross-origin issues. To verify this, do the following:

  1. On the browser, right click, and select Inspect.
  2. Click Console. The error messages are written in red. Ask your hosting company to solve this by changing the X-Frame-Options from DENY to SAMEORIGIN

Rocket Loader takes time to load for Cloudflare users

If you use Cloudflare, you may need to either switch off Rocket Loader or add rules to Cloudflare. When Rocket Loader is activated it can take time to load the Elementor editor. This may cause you to get stuck on the grey loading page.

To resolve this, do the following:

  • Clear/deactivate your cache before updating the plugins. The cache of Cloudflare can prevent your browser from recognizing the new versions of Elementor and Elementor pro.
  • Create rules in Cloudflare. For details, see Elementor And Cloudflare Rocket Loader

Incompatible versions of Elementor and Elementor Pro

If you are using both the free version of Elementor and Elementor Pro, make sure the versions are compatible. Using newer version with the outdated version can cause conflicts. As the newer version may be using code or functions not recognized by the older versions. Update both (Elementor and Elementor Pro) to the latest versions.
